High in the Sky
Richard Heene and his wife are straight up liars. The little stunt they pulled on national TV. last week was absolutely a hoax. At first, everyone thought this was going to end in some terrible tragedy. After the Heene’s called 911, all kinds of people responded to the call. They even went as far as getting the National Guard to assist. After hours of distress and eyes glued to the television, the balloon landed only to reveal the boy wasn’t there in the first place. As far as I could tell, there wasn’t really any place for the boy to be in the box in the first place. But the big surprise was that the boy named Falcon was actually hiding in the attic because he didn’t want to get in trouble. That all seemed fine at first glance, but after listening to the 911 phone call and watching the home video (for whatever reason they had that out in a crisis, we will never know, but only adds fuel to hoax’s fire), it is apparent that Richard Heene tends to be acting out, rather than apprehensive. It all seemed a little staged at first, but, what really took the cake for me was when the family was on Larry King Live, and little Falcon gave it all away. After all the tapes and interviews being done, I strongly accuse Richard Heene of faking this stunt, and feel he should not reap any benefits from this. He loves the publicity I’m sure, but I don’t feel he went about getting publicity in the right manor. Whether he was in this for the money, or to get his own reality TV show, he failed at both, and that’s what he deserves. I don’t feel he or his family should have to pay back bills to the point where he goes bankrupt, that’s just cruel. He wasted valuable resources, but hopefully he learned his lesson, and I hope he is ashamed to show his eyes in public again. Now it’s time to just move on from this, and divert attention elsewhere, because he is definitely feasting off every minute of this publicity. You are a sick man Richard Heene.

U.S. Stands Alone
The war in Afghanistan at late, seems to lack much support from almost anyone. In itself, it almost seems like a doomsday plague. Now known as the war that wont end, is growing ever infamous for being a waste of money, resources, and lives. However, it does not take much thought for someone to bash all the hard work that has gone into this war. The billions of dollars are being spent every day not to just let soldiers sit over there in their guard posts, but to better the lives of millions. I feel that American soldiers do need to be over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I feel, as the biggest and most powerful world power, we need to help those in need all over the world. By straightening out the middle east, there will finally be hope for the whole eastern hemisphere.
It’s nice to think about, but I must say that this is not just America’s war. America was attacked as we all know. But, we also know that America is a major partner in the ever famous N.A.T.O. N.A.T.O. is a sort of pact made up of almost 30 countries. This organization was formed to protect all the members of this organization. These nations vowed to stand together with each other In case of attack. Well, I can’t say it’s working out too well. The war seems to be mostly fought by the U.S. I feel other countries need to join in and together we can get this war over with. It is time to stay the course, and let others pitch in. That was the idea behind N.A.T.O., and many seem to be in the dark.

Kate plus 8 minus Jon
It’s all over the news. Some are attracted to it so as they don’t miss a beat. Then others can’t stand seeing it anymore. It’s big, it’s TV, its drama, and it’s Jon and Kate plus 8. Or, as some perceive it now, Kate plus 8, minus Jon. Or even Kate plus 8, minus Jon, minus $230,000! Either way, it’s a sad state of affairs for the Gosselin family. Having recently gone through a divorce between my parents, I can only relate to the 8 helpless children. I can even relate to the very young children as I have also been through another divorce with my parents when I was only 4. It’s not fun for anyone. I can only imagine how humiliating it has become for the entire family.
Now, try to understand where I am coming from here. I feel the show should still continue as Kate plus 8. Jon should be out of the picture altogether. He has disbanded the show, made a mockery of his wife and kids, and has let temptation get the better of him. I’m sure it’s hard living with 8 kids and all the publicity that goes with it, but he isn’t exactly struggling to pay the bills, and his wife is surely attractive, especially considering the circumstances. Anyways, I feel the show must go on. Not only for TLC’s ratings sake, but for Kate’s sake as well. She clearly needs the money now more than ever, she has seemed to enjoy the show, and the kids don’t seem to mind much either. Let them get their lives back on track, and let America enjoy watching this family grow up.
Jon claims its bad for the kids. Sure he does. Now that he is divorcing Kate. Makes sense that he would feel that way. But he didn’t mind it when he was on the show, so clearly now that he isn’t making the big paycheck anymore, he doesn’t want ex-wife Kate to enjoy life either. Jon is just riding the band wagon here. He is very jealous of Kate’s fame at this point.
I say let the film role on. If Jon doesn’t want to be on it then so be it. But, if Kate wins custody, and she will, then let the show go on. As for Jon, he needs to go cry in the corner and think about what he did to one of the best family’s anyone could ask for.

School, School, School
Word is out. It’s all over the news. And it’s not going away. President Obama is currently trying to introduce a bill to congress that will require all students to attend at the least an extra 300 hours a year in school. That is the equivalent of up to 3 hours extra a day. Some students even go in to school on weekends. This is a great idea, to most. GPA’s could easily improve with all the extra time to take tests and quizzes. The learning spectrum could change. Students could learn twice as much in a week, and teachers could even make a little as well. Tests scores would increase, colleges would fill up, and the U.S. would be back on the competitive side. It’s wonderful.
That is until you take a different perspective. Think of the millions of children, more so in high school, that have after school jobs. Would they be excluded? Those young adults that help make rent payments would have to quit their jobs, or work less, or even work later into the night. It’s a lose lose situation. Work less, make less, work later, and well, I’m sure you can think of all the terrible things that would come with working later. Point is, it’s not a good idea. When I was in school, I also had a part time job. This job was shift work. Meaning I had to be there at 3, and couldn’t leave until 11. With my work’s schedule policy, I would not be able to work half shifts like 5-11 or 4-9. It had to be a whole shift, every day I worked.
I do not believe the president is considering all sides of this new idea. I feel that there is no time in our already crowded lives for an extra 3 hours a day. I myself am too busy to sit out an extra 3 hours every day, and I certainly wouldn’t have the time to do the homework from an extra 3 hours of class, much less the homework from the already 8 hour school day. I vote no on longer school days!
