Afghanistan or Bust!

It’s all over the news. Almost every week. Someone somewhere is trying to run this war. This war has had more generals than the past wars put together. And the only thing they all have in common is that they all need more soldiers. I recall a couple years ago and Army ad stating “an army is no longer measured in numbers.” That seems to really have taken them places. However, I feel that if there is significant need for such a large amount of soldiers then so be it. After all, there are almost a million soldiers serving elsewhere. Why not make them fight a war that they signed up for. I don’t mean to sound so crude about it, but if the top general is saying there is such a need then so be it. We Americans have the most powerful army in the world, and I truly believe the man leading them all should get what he asks for. Whether it be tanks, munitions, planes, ships or even foot soldiers, so be it. Let him have whatever will get our soldiers home sooner. The troop buildup is a huge number, but I do believe in safety in numbers. Shouldn’t we just send in the extra troops, let them go over and kick some butt? I understand this war has a budget, but this is going to change the shape of the world in the end, and put us closer to world peace than ever before. Like I said, if the top general feels this is the correct course of action, then so be it. He is trying to do his job, and his demands need to be met. Put yourself in his position. It’s like trying to build a house with a hammer and two nails. If you don’t have what you need, then it can’t be done. And that is exactly the position we are in.

Kanye should head West!

Did you see the VMA’s? If you didn’t, here is what you missed! Taylor Swift won the Best Female Video of the Year Award Sunday night. However, during her acceptance speech, Kanye West approached Taylor Swift, interrupted her, and spoke out against her triumph. He lashed out against Taylor, claiming that Beyonce ‘one of the best videos of all time’ this year and that the award was rightfully hers. Kanye handed back the microphone to Taylor and left the stage leaving the crowd booing Kanye’s disposition and leaving Taylor Swift speechless and humiliated. Shortly thereafter, President Barack Obama issued what was suppose to be an off the record statement condemning West and stating ‘he is a jackass’. I agree with the president whole heartedly!

Has this changed your opinion about Kanye West?

Mine has! Kanye West use to be a very big teen pop star. He hosted the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards and grew quite famous among the younger population. But has recently been taking a down hill slide. He needs time off to rethink is pop star icon.

The day after the VMA’s he aired on the new Jay Leno show. You would think he suffered enough humiliation Sunday night, but, when Jay popped the question “what would your mom say about the way you acted?” it left Kanye speechless for what seemed like an eternity. Kanye was a mess! And he should have been. He would have been smart to just not show up in the first place. He ruined a 19 year olds moment of fame and on live television.

For me, the whole incident sort of ruined the VMA’s for me, at least for a little while. I did feel that the best part of the night was when Beyonce won her award and then, gave her time to let Taylor Swift come out and give her speech. That says a lot about Beyonce and who she is as a person. I now have some new found respect for her.

I want to know how the show made you feel. Do you think Kanye has anything left after this?
